Friday, 18 April 2008 |
Last month's event was so popular, we will be holding another Beginner's Tour of Santos on Wednesday, May 7th, at 6 pm, at the Santos trailhead on 80th St. (directions here). No sign-up is required, just come with a bike and a helmet.
If you are new to mountain biking, or riding at Santos, and want to feel confident finding your way around - this group is for you. We will explain everything, there are no stupid questions! This may also be the place for someone with a "hammer head" significant other to take the stress out of learning from family, and discover the fun of riding on the trails.

The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew will be in Ocala at the Santos Trails, March 6-16th to talk trails, teach people proper trail stewardship, and spend quality time riding in the dirt. The visit is one of 70 stops on the 2007 schedule. Everyone is invited to attend the events.
Kelly and Collins Bishop of the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew will be in Santos for a women's skills clinic Saturday, March 8th, 1-3 pm.
The clinic will cover basic skills like bike handling, braking, shifting, balance, log-overs and much more. Come on out for a little instruction and a lot of fun!
Please register online. For more information, please contact Renee Blaney .
OMBA, together with IMBA, are hosting a Town Hall Party at Barbazon's, 4361 NW Blichton Rd, Hwy 27 (just east of I-75) in Ocala on March 12 at 7:00 pm. So come out and meet the IMBA Trail Care Crew Kelly and Collins.
The Crews teach "sustainable" trailbuilding, which means building trails that last a long time and require minimal maintenance. This helps reduce trail damage, protects the environment, and enhances visitor enjoyment.
Most Trail Care Crew visits last four days, allowing time to assess local trails, host an evening event, conduct a two-day Trailbuilding School, and ride with the locals. Now in its ninth year, the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew program is more popular than ever.
