We're Adding New Trails!
The Ocala Mountain Bike Association, in cooperation with the FDEP Office of Greenways and Trails, is working to build a new Blue, intermediate level trail between CR484 and SR200 on the west end of the current trail system. This new trail will also provide access to the Ross Prairie Campground and Trailhead located on SR200.
The trail is anticipated to be approximately 3 miles in length, and will feature varying, rolling terrain, lots of bench cut trail sections, wooden bridges, and lots of fun and fast sections. The trail is being constructed in part with a $10,000.00 grant that OMBA received from the Bikes Belong Coalition. OMBA has purchased tools, equipment and materials necessary to build this trail with the grant funds.
It is anticipated that the trail will be completed in time for the 2011 OMBA Ride of the Living Dead, a 50/63 mile epic, costumed, ride which benefits both OMBA and the Greenways and Trails Foundation.
